Tattoo Aftercare

Proper aftercare is essential to help your tattoo heal well and preserve the quality of the finished piece. Please follow these instructions carefully.

Days 1 to 3: Dry Healing

  • No balms, creams, oils or moisturisers for the first 3 days.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly before touching your tattoo.
  • Gently wash your tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance free soap.
  • Pat dry with clean kitchen roll and allow the tattoo to air dry.
  • Keep the area clean and avoid unnecessary touching.
  • Optional and recommended: you can use Tattoo Spray during the first 3 days, following the product's instructions.

After Day 3

  • Continue washing your tattoo gently with mild, fragrance free soap.
  • If needed, apply a small amount of suitable tattoo aftercare balm or moisturiser.
  • Avoid over moisturising. A thin layer is all you need.
  • Allow any peeling or scabbing to come away naturally. Do not pick, scratch or pull at the skin.

General Aftercare

  • Wear clean, loose fitting clothing where possible to minimise friction.
  • Avoid swimming, baths, saunas and soaking your tattoo until it has fully healed.
  • Avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds while healing.
  • Avoid excessive friction and activities that irritate the tattoo.
  • Keep your bedding and anything touching your tattoo clean.
  • Do not re-cover your tattoo unless specifically instructed.

What to Expect

Some redness, tenderness, mild swelling, weeping and peeling can occur during healing. Your tattoo may also look dull or cloudy temporarily.

If redness spreads, pain or swelling worsens, the area becomes increasingly hot, you notice pus or develop a fever, seek medical advice promptly.

If you have any concerns about your tattoo during healing, please get in touch.
